Pleasantville

You know that movie, Pleasantville? Yeah we went there on Saturday night.
Steven's sister, Sarah, invited us to the Woodlands for some Christmas festivities. We had such a great time! First we walked through an outdoor lights display around an ice skating rink. Then we went to the outdoor shopping center called Market Street which was decorated with lights and garland everywhere. They had this great Central Park are with a gigantic Christmas tree.
We were trying to find a place to eat before the Horse and Carriage Parade. No small task for 4 adults and 4 children. We tried several places but of course all packed. So we ended up at this great little restaurant and sat outside (which was the only reason we got to eat there!) We were worried at first about how cold we would be, but there were outdoor heaters and it really felt great. Best of all we were on the parade route! So instead of jockeying for spots on the curb 30 minutes before with all the other Pleasantville visitors, we could see the whole thing from our table. But when the parade came around everyone but me (still eating by myself in silence, yes you moms know how great that feeling is!) went to the street to watch it. They were miniature ponies, and big horses, and carriages, all decorated beautifully for the holidays.
And Santa was there! What great leverage that was for getting Parker and Emma to behave at the dinner table. The thoughts that must have run through their minds when I told them Santa was so close and would definitely know if they were being naughty. Ahh, I love the holidays, threats of the big guy for good behavior...hey, whatever works!!
But really, an awesome night. The food was wonderful, the atmosphere was great, Christmas in the air, we really had a super time. We can't wait to go back in a few weeks where they have promised snow!
