All day yesterday Emma could not wait. She was so excited to go play soccer. In the morning she couldn't wait for bedtime so that she could go to sleep and wake up for her first game. The anticipation has been super high. When it was finally time to wake up and go play I think the excitement may have worn off. Someone was in a grumpy mood and not wanting to be at the field at 8:30. Not to mention the fact that it was freezing so we dressed in a few layers.
It was the first time that we had met our coaches and team since our practice was rained out on Monday. We weren't exactly sure what color we were, where we were supposed to be, how to play the game. They had a good little practice and it was game time!
Emma started out playing goalie, probably a good job for her since she is constantly defending her space against Kathryn. She was very focused. The other team came and kicked the ball and she went down and got it, and was kicked in the face! But no point for the other team and that's what's important!
After a little TLC she was back in there and chasing the ball with the rest of them. She fell a few times and there were some more tears, but I think really just from being tired. I was shocked when she said she wanted to play goalie again, she did another great job, blocking another goal. But she did decided that being the goalie was boring and turned to ask me," When does Tball start?" That's my Emma!
Kathryn really wanted to play too. It was a lot of fun trying to keep her off the field. What better way than to bribe her with a ring pop?
Our team, the Tigers won 2-0. We had a fun morning and hopefully things will go a little smoother next week after an official practice and a 10am game time!
