Gobble, Gobble: The End

Every year our little family heads down to the beach house for Thanksgiving in Galveston. Since we are stuffed on turkey and dressing from the night before at Granny's, we just fix up a nice steak dinner! Which just so happens to be our favorite meal.

After dinner we head to Moody Gardens to see the Festival of Lights. This is one of the girls' favorite things to do. And it is what really gets me in the mood for Christmas. Walking through the lights, hearing the Christmas music, and seeing all the decorations. They even have an ice rink there, but we haven't been brave enough to try that yet!

This year it was COLD!!! Okay it was 52, but for us that's pretty chilly, especially with the wind blowing off the bay. This is how cold it was, I didn't wear flip flops, no sirree I bundled my toes up in socks and tennies, really that says it all. Steven had the good sense to bring a blanket and bundle the girls up on our walk through Wonderland. And I'm not quite sure why, but every time I pointed out a nutcracker or said the word "nutcracker", Steven had a little shudder!

On Friday we attempted the Rainforest Cafe where Kathryn reassured us that she was going to be a big girl and not be scared this time. She was under the table within 5 minutes. Then it was back to Moody Gardens to take in the exhibits and see a movie. As many times as we have been there we have never seen the seal feeding, that was a lot of fun!! And the penguins were so active, they really do look like they are "flying" through the water.

The movie we saw was Santa VS. the Snowman in 3D. Imagine the girls so excited to see a movie about Santa, wearing their 3D glasses, the lights dim, here it comes, BAM! It's a great white shark coming straight at us! Oh man, Kathryn about jumped out of her skin. Not sure what genius thought the preview for Sharks 3D was a good idea right before a holiday movie obviously aimed at small children. But the Santa movie was super cute and if it's playing somewhere near you, I highly recommend it.

Well the day quickly turned rainy and mixed with the cold, that was not a good combination. So we scrounged through the pantry and found all sorts of sprinkles and stuff to make frosting and had a fun time baking and decorating cookies.

We are sad that we only got to take one golf cart ride, no playing on the swing or hammocks, that Alli and Abby weren't with us and for the first time ever, we didn't even see the beach!! But it was a nice relaxing holiday and it continues to be one of our favorite family times!
